What Google Permissions Does KeepMyMail Need?

Last updated: 2026-03-28

When you sign in to KeepMyMail with your Google account, Google shows you a permissions screen listing what KeepMyMail can do. Here’s a plain-language explanation of each permission and why it’s needed.

Why does KeepMyMail need to connect to my Google account?

KeepMyMail delivers email from your other email accounts into your Gmail inbox. To do this, it needs permission from Google to add messages to your Gmail. Without this permission, there would be no way to get your other emails into Gmail.

Permission: “Add email to your Gmail”

This is the core permission KeepMyMail needs. It allows us to deliver email messages from your other accounts into your Gmail inbox — and nothing else.

This permission is write-only. It lets us add new messages to your Gmail, but it does not let us read, change, or delete any of your existing emails.

Permission: “See your Gmail labels”

This lets KeepMyMail see the names of your Gmail labels (like “Work” or “Personal”) so you can choose which label to apply to imported emails. We only read label names — we cannot see which emails have which labels or modify your label structure.

Permission: “See your email address and basic profile”

This lets us know who you are when you sign in. We use your email address to create your account and your name and profile picture to personalize your dashboard. We never share this information with anyone.

What KeepMyMail CAN’T do

It’s just as important to understand what KeepMyMail cannot do with your Google account:

  • We cannot read your Gmail. We have no access to your existing emails, conversations, or inbox contents.
  • We cannot send email as you. We have no permission to send messages from your Gmail address.
  • We cannot delete anything. We have no permission to remove or modify any emails, labels, or settings in your Gmail.
  • We cannot see your contacts, calendar, or Drive. We only request the minimum permissions needed to deliver email.

How to revoke KeepMyMail’s access

If you ever want to disconnect KeepMyMail from your Google account:

  1. Go to Google Account > Security > Third-party apps
  2. Find KeepMyMail in the list
  3. Click it and select “Remove Access”

You can also delete your KeepMyMail account from the Settings page, which automatically revokes Google access and deletes all your data.

Google’s verification

KeepMyMail has undergone Google’s app verification process, which confirms that we only request the permissions we actually need, handle your data securely, and comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

KeepMyMail’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
